MyHen - originally short for My Homeschool Enrichment Network - started in a very personal way. When I made the decision to homeschool my two children, I quickly realized that we needed more: more connection, more opportunities, and more ways to bring learning to life. I began gathering small groups of families to share resources, pool funds, and bring in passionate instructors. What began as a simple solution for my own kids quickly grew into a vibrant, grassroots network.
Today, MyHen exists to support families pursuing alternative education by providing access to hands-on enrichment experiences and a strong, connected community. We believe learning should be joyful, flexible, and grounded in real-world experiences that spark curiosity and confidence.
Since launching, we’ve served over 200 children and supported more than 100 families through nature-based learning, creative hands-on courses, and field trips. Our programs are rooted in place-based learning - fostering a lasting sense of belonging and identity.
With the success of our 2024–2025 programs, we’re expanding our reach. For the 2025–2026 school year, we aim to serve over 400 children and support more than 200 families, extending into Wasatch County, Salt Lake County, and beyond. We’re actively building relationships with family-led co-ops, nature groups, and micro-communities - offering support, resources, and collaboration to amplify the amazing work already happening.
We’re also deepening partnerships with local educators, artists, farmers, and mentors, and working to increase access to free or low-cost enrichment opportunities so that more families, regardless of background, can be part of this growing movement.
At MyHen, we believe community-rooted education has the power to transform lives. We’re proud to walk alongside homeschooling families who are creating new possibilities for how children grow, learn, and connect - with each other and the world around them.
MyHen.org is a central hub for discovering meaningful educational opportunities tailored to homeschoolers. On our site, you’ll find a regularly updated calendar of upcoming classes, courses, field trips, and events - along with direct registration links.
We feature both:
Our offerings are open to all homeschoolers - regardless of style, structure, or experience. About Us
MyHen began with one mom, two kids, and a simple need for more.
After moving to Utah in search of a better education, founder Sara Simcox, quickly realized that even the “best” schools didn’t fit the unique needs of her children. When she made the decision to homeschool, she discovered just how powerful personalized, hands-on learning could be - but also how hard it was to find meaningful opportunities and community support.
So she started creating them.
What began as a few families pooling resources to bring in passionate instructors has grown into a dynamic grassroots network connecting hundreds of homeschoolers across Summit County and beyond.
Today, MyHen (short for My Homeschool Enrichment Network) is a trusted resource for families exploring alternative education. We connect homeschoolers with high-quality enrichment experiences - both through partnerships with local businesses and original programs organized by our team. From nature-based classes to creative arts, STEM, and field trips, everything we do is grounded in real-world learning and a deep belief in the power of community.
We’re proud to walk alongside families who are rethinking education and creating new possibilities for how children grow, learn, and connect.

We took a field trip to the Summit County Sheriff's office in Park City. We are so blessed to have these amazing people looking watching over us.
